Petit Chinoiserie
Petit Chinoiserie is an innovative approach to the commercialisation of eastern aesthetics by artist Trajan and creative-crossover expert Kina. They believe the defining feature of eastern culture is not the impoverished and monotonous stereotype; it is not just an exchange of cultural information in the high-volume traffic of today. Instead they believe it is a cultural fusion of eastern native wisdom and worldwide understand. They feel it is a continual shaping of the oriental life sentiment, ever present in the now. Their desire is to create fresh meaningful concepts which stem from this perspective.
Chinoiserie is a style that has been accepted by both East and West, all the while telling both traditional and modern stories. Trajan and Kina discovered the inclusiveness and discourse of cultures under the surface of this visual style and were so deeply touched by it that they now want to develop chinoiserie aesthetics within modern brands and commercial spaces. Their dream is to bring a reimagined, re-designed and re-decorated lifestyle to their clients’ customers.
They chose an iconic element from the Chinoiserie pattern, a monkey, to represent their brand. A tiny monkey who shuttles back and forth through different times and cultural zones. The monkey has been illustrated as a wise, mysterious, magical yet also jocular figure both with Chinese and Indian mythology. Kina and Trajan feel the combination of these characteristics epitomise the ethics of their brand spirit.

He feels that various graphic art techniques such as silkscreen print, hand drawing and embroidery thoughtfully and rationally record the detail of the changing times; the unfolding narrative of the urban communities and the gently disappearing public living spaces.
